Charlottesville: Civil War monuments

I have had a lot of thoughts about this one and heard many opinions. My father wants them left alone, my wife is rather neutral, some friends say turn them to slag. I personally have wavered from take them down as they symbolize the slavery and oppression that was desired to be maintained by the confederacy as well as possibly one of the greatest anti-american symbols is the confederate flag. For many years it would have been considered treason to fly a confederate flag. On the flip side one of the greatest freedoms in the USA is the freedom of speech which does cover even burning the american flag or speaking out against whatever you feel is wrong. As President Jones I would have the following plan for resolving the dispute for the removal or protection of such hot button confederate monuments: Put your money where your mouth is. I would hold two opposing go-fund-me sites. Those who want the monument to stay and be preserved with a historic designation would be on one side, those

Introducing: President Jones

Dear Reader, This is my contemplation of how I would handle hypothetical and real situations if I were president. I understand that by even writing this I am likely ending and career I might have had in politics, but that ship sailed a long time ago. These are based upon my understanding of the powers and abilities of a president as well as what I can only hope to accomplish. I realise that if every presidency went the way they intended from the inauguration to their...retirement? (what's it called when you`re no longer president if they still call you Mr. President?) If it went anywhere near their dream then things would likely be both far less messy and probably better off. I plan to tackle ideas as I come to them or as the news hits and I react. Or as I mow the lawn which is where most of my thinking time occurs. I do plan to tackle many difficult issues and while I invite educated discussion (though I doubt anyone will be reading this) I would invite any opposition that h
